Immediately after Prince Hanad and the thieves left, two crime investigators came to see Gabi. They found him badly wounded on his head and torso and lying on the floor of his cell. 'What's your name?' The most senior investigator asked.

'Jamaal Goley,' He growled.

'Do you have any other names?' the senior investigator asked again.

'People call me Gabi,' he replied without looking at his interrogator.

'You killed a man. What was the reason?'

He sat up and replied, 'I didn't kill a man. I fought with a thug who tried to steal our money, and we left him alive.'

'Why did he want to take your money?'

'Ask him,' he growled.

'We can't ask questions of a dead man. You've killed him. Answer the question,' said the interrogator.

He looked at the interrogator and roared angrily, 'I didn't kill anyone.'

'Our officers confirmed that the man you fought with died on the spot. What made you think that you didn't kill him?'

'Because I don't believe that he's dead,' insisted Gabi, believing Hanad's word implicitly true.

'That's interesting,' said the investigator. 'We'll investigate your case and will talk to you later, Mr Gabi.' Then they left him. They went to the office of the Chief Justice, Chief Dangig. They approached him sitting in his office and told him that Gabi bluntly denied killing Jabal Guhaa. The chief firmly believed that Gabi had killed the giant. He ordered the investigators to find the giant's corpse and prepare a full report for the court, and then they left to look for the body.
